Dear Friends,

We are delighted to tell you that Clon 2019 promises to be an extra-special occasion, thanks to all of you who have entered the various categories in the 40th South of Ireland Band Championships which will take place on Saturday, July 6.

Due to the configuration of numbers, it will be necessary to have two competition venues again this year – the junior and senior categories in one and the intermediate in another which is being arranged at the moment. This venue will be Sacred Heart Secondary School which is close to the Community College and Hall.

We are looking forward to welcoming to Clonakilty our adjudicators, Mr Tom Davoren who will judge the intermediate category and Mr Philip Harper who will judge the junior and senior categories.

A Chairde,

Greetings from Clonakilty as we prepare to celebrate 40 years of the South of Ireland Band Championships. We salute all those who, over the years, have come either as participants or supporters and we hope that you can be with us on Saturday, July 6 for what promises to be an occasion of wonderful music and reunion.

We are keenly aware that many of the earlier band contacts are no longer relevant so please spread the word to other band colleagues and put them in touch with us. Should anybody have programmes from the early years, perhaps you will share them with us and be assured that they will be returned safely. We are in the process of compiling a commemorative programme which has to go to print on May 31.

Looking forward to meeting you all in Clon.
